Before we get into how many bathrooms there are, it’s worth sharing what really matters: the things we do best. Beyond the floor plans and thoughtful farming practices, the estate is simply a happy place to live. Most people who come here get it — and they stay. Many end up seeing their kids grow up here from start to finish. A place where there is a good chance children will grow up being able to name trees and know well that feeling of bare feet in long summer grass. There’s a lively WhatsApp — matching up muddled post, job opportunities  for teens, unwanted bits and pieces up for grabs, and botanical observations. Most of the people who live here actually own homes elsewhere, but choose to live here — that says a lot.

We’re looking for the right person to take on Horseshoes — ideally someone who really appreciates what this place, and the wider estate, has to offer. Not someone just passing through, but someone who wants to make a home.

Horseshoes is the former stable building, located to the west of the main house within a beautifully landscaped former stable yard. On the ground floor, there is an open-plan sitting and dining area that leads into a well-equipped kitchen. Original wooden stable box panels and a stone wall divide the space, which opens out into a large private courtyard garden (please note: no pictures of the courtyard are available until the current tenants move out).

  • A double bedroom with ensuite
  • A second double bedroom with ensuite WC
  • A single bedroom
  • A further bathroom and an additional WC
  • Large, self-contained home office with its own WC and private entrance ( pictures to follow once the tenants has left)
  • Large rear courtyard garden
  • Good sized workshop

Option to rent a 4 acre paddock (at an additional cost). For growing , a pony or other livestock or as dog field or other project .

Attached to the house is the former shop, which would make an ideal home office, with its own WC and private entrance.

Please note, cats are not permitted, but one well-behaved dog is welcome. The property is part of the Old Lands Estate, which is run as a conservation farming project. To find out more, visit www.old-lands.co.uk. The images shown were taken when the cottage was used as a holiday rental. The property will be unfurnished when viewed and let. As we are a small, close-knit community, this home will not be let to the first person who applies. We are looking to get to know more about any potential tenants and will choose the person or family who feels like the best fit for the property and the estate.
